Athar Islam is an entrepreneur, developer and investor whose work has evolved across hospitality, real estate and technology.
Over the past 15 years, he has founded and operated businesses, developed assets and invested his own capital across multiple markets.
His experience began with operating businesses rather than following a single investment discipline. Over time, that led naturally into property development and into building technology to solve problems encountered inside the businesses themselves.
Today his work spans hospitality assets in Fiji, residential development in Phuket, flexible workspace in Kuala Lumpur, and technology for hospitality and travel.
Founder Philosophy
Build from understanding.
I am drawn to opportunities where there is something fundamental to understand before there is something to invest in.
In hospitality, that may mean understanding how guests behave, where margins disappear and what makes an asset perform. In development, it means understanding the land, the market, the buyer and the economics before deciding what should be built.
Sometimes the opportunity is the asset itself. Sometimes it is the business around it. And sometimes a problem inside that business leads us to build technology of our own.
That is the thinking behind ATHAR: understand the underlying economics, build where we can create an advantage, and remain close enough to the outcome to be accountable for it.

Built in sequence.
- 2014
Designed and built a bespoke sales pipeline, automation and ROI intelligence system for a major high-ticket events operation. The completed platform was subsequently acquired by the client.
- 2017
Founded Pent House Offices in Kuala Lumpur’s KLCC district.
- Fiji
Created and operates hospitality businesses including Serenity Island Resort and Serenity Sands.
- Phuket
Expanded into residential development through Rise Villas, an 18-villa private pool development currently under development and sales.
- Today
Building technology including ResortPulse and OnlyFiji.
